Pros & Cons of Higher Education

After finishing college, in this sort of subject you have a wide range of things to do to help your career. Go to university, drama school or get an agency and start getting jobs. There are loads more but it's your choice. Though first you need to understand the advantages and disadvantages of all the options you are going to choose from.

For example the Pros:

Drama School - when attending a drama school you are taught by a professional of the performing arts. You will need them to understand how to live up to the industry's expectations. You will then need your CV. It is vital that you have one as it helps you for getting casting jobs. Thorugh your CV you can Express your talents. Show the reader how you are different from everyone else and tell them what is special about you. Through drama school they will help through the process of getting you jobs. The drama school takes your CV and searches across your region/county/state/area to find an audition that suits you. By going to these auditions you gain links, by getting links you gain opportunities and by getting opportunities youg gain experience to increase your career. When also doing shows at your drama school scouts and professional actors are invited to see your performance. They come to see your talents and what you offer them to them on the table. Then through them you gain links, opportunities and an amazing career.

University - now in universities you get a wide range of subjects to explore. You get to meet new people from these subjects and gain peers/friends who can teach you about things you've never heard of/seen. You are still able to do an acting course but say you felt as of there is something else encourages you to work just as hard on. Then university is the place to be. You have the opportunity of learning/working independently on your own environment. Due to the generous offer of giving you a rented (student) accommodation. I have known that some students recommend going to university because of the feeling of living in your own environment while knowing the basic necessities. Cooking, cleaning, paying rent, etc.

Then there are Cons:

Drama Schools - the well known disadvantage of going to drama school is the intense cost. All the grand opportunities that you gain (some are explained above in drama school section) all need to be payed. Otherwise you don't get the full experience. For example, a one year BA (Hons) training course, at Lamda, is £9,250. The course is three years so add that together it is a total of £27,750. Due to it's high amount, most students are lett with a lot of debt and this can cause students to turn their path away from the performing arts industry. Now of course you will be paying if gradually from your job through your years to most people that amount is still to great. Another disadvantage is some students have less time going to auditions for there are schools where they are strict on allowing you to miss out on important learning time. Also doe to the intense load of work you gain, you become to busy to even go to the auditions.

University - in universities the same is to be said about costs.  They are to great and what's worse is if you were choosing an acting course the money would be wasted. It is known that at drama school you are taught performing arts for a lot of hours, from at least 5-6 days. Whereas in university it is a lot shorter. You are wasting a great of money on a subject that is not guaranteed to give you a lot work/jobs. Tuition fees is also a problem as the amount is increased to the maximum so the university can fund as much as they can into performing arts.
